      • This course is for incoming Bellarmine Freshmen only. Our two-week Bell Prep camp offers the opportunity for new Bellarmine students to get to know their classmates, campus, and community. The course is built on four key pillars: Ignatian identity, tech mastery, study skills, and social and emotional growth. This experience-based course will invite students to explore becoming a man for and with others. A key component of Ignatian identity is the formation of strong, supportive relationships within a community. As such, students will learn how to effectively engage and collaborate with their teachers and peers to strengthen the lasting tradition of the Bellarmine Brotherhood. This portion of the course is focused on finding joy in all things, building friendships, and having fun. Upperclassmen will mentor incoming freshmen to ensure they are well-supported during their transition to high school. The ability to utilize technology effectively and efficiently is an essential skill for all students, especially incoming freshmen. Students will have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with classroom technologies like Canvas, our learning management system, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite of programs used at Bellarmine, which will help them to be organized and ready for class on their first day. Likewise, study skills and learning strategies will be emphasized in this course to reinforce the tools students will need to be successful in each of their classes. Finally, students will be coached to create and maintain healthy habits so they may lead a balanced life during their time in school. In addition to academic excellence, Bellarmine is committed to providing students with a holistic education that offers countless opportunities to explore new passions. Therefore, a focus on extra and co-curricular activities will be included in this course. Students will explore their important role in developing and strengthening the Bellarmine community by sharing what they learn through their gifts and talents. The experiences they share with their new classmates will help them to feel more comfortable, excited, and empowered to begin high school at Bellarmine.
