Athletics
The goals of Bellarmine's Athletic Department mirror those of the school in general—to form young men who will be characterized by their competence, conscience, and compassion, “men for and with others.” Our student-athletes develop skills, learn life lessons, and form friendships that serve them throughout their lives.
Our Jesuit Identity and a Tradition of Service
The intersection of athletic competition and Jesuit education finds student-athletes who perform to the greatest of their capability, and do so in a manner that also seeks the magis—the greater good.
We have been very fortunate to meet with a great deal of success in the athletic realm, but to have done so in the context of intellectual, physical, and moral personal growth, asking what more we can do to help God's plan come to life, is what makes us Jesuit.
Our sports teams fully embrace the responsibility to lead and serve. Teams volunteer together (locally and even on the road) and participate in some friendly competition for our Winter Warmth and Spring Food Drives. Our football team has taken part in a beginning-of-the-school-year backpack drive for many years, and it's not unusual for players to help students from local elementary schools by coaching them or holding skills clinics. A.M.D.G. ~ all for the greater glory of God.
By testing themselves and by being tested, our athletes find out more about who they are, their capability to be both collaborative and competitive, and their capacity to both lead and serve.
Our Sports Medicine & Strength and Conditioning Programs
Bellarmine's athletic department offers tremendous services for our student-athletes.
We provide the highest level of sports medicine care for the student-athlete, with a first-class facility, and three dedicated full-time athletic trainers who provide care and rehabilitation for the entire athletic community. Our athletic trainers and team physicians are leaders in the field of concussion management at the high school level.
Our strength and conditioning program is available to all students-on a drop-in basis, as an elective class, and for our teams.
Staying Active
All students are encouraged to take advantage of our first-rate fitness center, located on the second floor of the Student Life Center. One full-time and one part-time strength and conditioning coach is there to support students and design personalized fitness programs for them. We hope that all students at Bellarmine will develop healthy routines that are life-giving.
