Bellarmine’s Kristina Luscher Named New Principal at Presentation High School
Sonya Arriola to Serve as Principal for 2022-23 School Year

Kristina Luscher

Bellarmine Principal Kristina Luscher has been named the new Principal of Presentation High School, effective July 1 (https://www.presentationhs.org/about-us/principal-search)

As noted by Chris Meyercord ’88, Bellarmine President, in his message to the Bellarmine community, “Kristina has been an extraordinary asset to Bellarmine during her 21 years here. Over that span, she has taught English, dance, and Cura, she has led immersion trips and participated in numerous Kairos and other retreats, she has chaired the English Department, served as a Dean of Faculty and Assistant Principal, and for the past seven years has served as our Principal. While her resume alone speaks to her many contributions to campus, what stands out to me is the consistent care she has demonstrated throughout her career for those with whom she works, especially for our students. She models cura personalis incredibly well and is a great example of a deeply Ignatian educator. She will be greatly missed, but I know we’ll still see her regularly, and we look forward to deepening our already strong relationship with Presentation in the years ahead under her leadership. Kristina will finish out this school year and still carry out all of the responsibilities of the Principal’s office in the months ahead.”

Mr. Meyercord also extended gratitude to Sonya Arriola, who has agreed to serve as Bellarmine’s Interim Principal for the 2022-23 school year. “Although she has not sought this work and will not be applying for the position the year following, Sonya has seen the need for next year and I am thankful for her willingness to assume the mantle of this responsibility,” he noted. Mrs. Arriola previously worked at Bellarmine as Director of DEI, then spent four years as the President of Sacred Heart Nativity Schools in San Jose before returning to Bellarmine four years ago as the Strategic Advisor to the President. “In that capacity, Sonya has led a number of key initiatives for the school, including our recent Sponsorship Review process, as well as championing the Pinkston Endowment, to name but two of many projects,” stated Mr. Meyercord. Mrs. Arriola will be defending her dissertation at USF later this week, in anticipation of earning her Doctorate in Catholic educational leadership later this Spring.

Bellarmine will begin the process of searching for a full-time Principal this summer.
