Bellarmine hosted its third annual Unity Picnic on Sunday, September 11. The on-campus event, which was organized by the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB); the Unity Council; and Bellarmine Mothers’ Guild, “brings together Bellarmine's community with the purpose of building bonds among our families and celebrating the rich diversity of our school,” noted Carlos Jiménez ’02, Bellarmine’s director of DEIB.
During the community gathering, attendees shared meals – many of which were dishes prepared from cherished family recipes -- that reflected their heritage and cultural background.
“Unity Council members also shared the mission and purpose of affinity groups and Unity Council, encouraging students and parents to engage in events organized by the DEIB Office and join our efforts to create a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable community in which all members feel a strong sense of belonging,” added Mr. Jiménez.
The Unity Council and the DEIB Office hosts several community events throughout the school year.
