Bellarmine College Prep Athletics Covid-19 Update as of August 17, 2020

Dear Bellarmine Families:

Hope this Update finds all of you healthy and safe.

The Athletic Department is pleased to announce the return to small group, in-person, outdoor conditioning on the Bellarmine campus. The recent updates to both state and local governmental health guidelines and directives allowing schools to return to conditioning has made the entire athletic staff extremely excited and joyful. Bellarmine’s coaches, strength and conditioning group, and trainers love working with our student-athletes; and thus, the delight in this news.

To be clear, there are still many restrictions that need to be followed, and a tremendous amount of logistics to be worked out in the weeks to come. Bellarmine Athletics intends to begin small group conditioning that can take place outside on Monday August 31st. This will be a phased in approach to allow for the greatest success in keeping our student-athletes, staff, and the community at minimal risk. This small group conditioning will follow state and local guidelines, which will be highlighted in virtual meetings with families that choose to participate in this offering.

As mentioned, there are a significant amount of logistics to be worked through and we ask that families continue to check Blue for updates on team sign-up meetings. Sign-ups will be crucial in our planning as guidelines still put restrictions on size of cohorts. Please note that all conditioning offerings are voluntary and do not have any bearing on a student trying out for a team when that time is here.

Currently, the following are the programs and projected start dates:

Cross Country – Week of August 31, 2020 – time trials
Football – Tuesday, September 8, 2020
Water Polo – Tuesday, September 8, 2020
Basketball – Monday, September 14, 2020
Lacrosse – Monday, September 14, 2020
Wrestling – Monday, September 21, 2020
