Three Alumni Inducted into the Bellarmine Hall of Fame
Bellarmine College Preparatory has announced that three alumni will be inducted into the Bellarmine Hall of Fame on August 23, 2025. These distinguished individuals embody Bellarmine’s motto of being men for and with others through their extraordinary personal and professional accomplishments and significant contributions to the community.
The following alumni will be honored in their respective categories for their professional achievements and for exemplifying the Ignatian tradition in their service to others:
Paul Rose ’75 (Athletics)
Paul Rose is the most successful high school boys’ soccer coach in the history of California. He has devoted his life to Jesuit education and the game of soccer, and in the process, established a legacy of humility, compassion, love of the sport, and excellence on and off the field. A graduate of Santa Clara, he began his career in 1979 at Jesuit High School in Sacramento and spent 45 seasons at the helm of the Marauders’ varsity program. Rose retired from coaching in 2024 with an outstanding .840 winning percentage, 37 league championships, 15 section titles, and 918 career victories, making him the winningest coach in state history and the third winningest coach in the nation. He was named National Coach of the Year four times, California Coach of the Year six times, and Delta League Coach of the Year 22 times. He has previously been inducted into the Jesuit High School Hall of Fame and the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Hall of Fame, and he was the first boys’ soccer coach ever selected for the California Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Paul was a longtime member of the Section committee and served as the Delta League representative for 36 years. He also spent more than three decades as chair of the social sciences department at Jesuit and continues to serve as the AP United States History teacher.
Bill Sullivan ’76 (Public Service)
Bill Sullivan is being honored in recognition of his exceptional dedication to serving the most vulnerable members of the San Jose community. A graduate of San Diego State, he has run Bill's Brush Works, a residential painting company in San Jose, for the last four decades. Bill turned his efforts toward community service in 2018 after a chance encounter with two unhoused individuals in his neighborhood, Rocco and Michael. It started with a modest stipend to clean up trash in the area and rapidly grew by word-of-mouth into regular meetups to beautify public spaces. In the process, Bill provided unhoused neighbors with dignified work to build confidence and foster a sense of community. Now a nonprofit organization, Neighborhood Hands works with dozens of volunteers and community partners to provide vital support for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, offering hot meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, bike repairs, haircuts, and access to critical resources such as mobile showers, mental health consulting, transitional employment, and housing referrals. Bill’s work is rooted in dignity, empathy, and personal connection; he is a consistent presence in the lives of those he serves, building trust by listening and meeting people where they are. By walking in solidarity with people who live on the margins of society and advocating for long-term solutions to homelessness, Bill embodies Bellarmine's values of service and social justice as he works to make San Jose a more compassionate, humane, and hopeful place.
Adnan Iqbal ’00 (Science & Medicine)
Adnan Iqbal '00 has demonstrated a commitment to service, social justice, and community impact during his career as a healthcare technology entrepreneur. Adnan graduated from UC Berkeley, and later continued his education, obtaining graduate degrees from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Institute of Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge. Along the way, Adnan co-founded The Young Leaders Circle of Habitat for Humanity Great San Francisco, served as a Social Entrepreneurship Lab Fellow at Stanford, co-founded a startup company that developed an inexpensive diagnostic device for infectious diseases, and spent five years in management roles at Genentech. Today, Adnan is the Co-founder & CEO of Luma Health, a health technology company solving one of the biggest challenges in healthcare -- getting a patient to the right healthcare provider and to the best healthcare outcome quickly. He launched the company in 2015, and over the last decade, has helped lead the company to transform the way healthcare is delivered by addressing systemic barriers to access and helping millions of people receive the care they need. Luma’s platform connects over 100 million patients, serving 650+ health systems and clinics across the US, Canada, and the UK. In his leadership role, Adnan has championed policies and partnerships that address health disparities and promote equity, and he has supported public health initiatives such as vaccine deployment in vulnerable communities.
