Bellarmine College Prep Names Alex Sarrett as New Head Varsity Basketball Coach

Basketball, Varsity Basketball

San Jose, CA – Following an extensive search, Alex Sarrett has been named Bellarmine College Preparatory’s new head varsity basketball coach. The move comes after Patrick Schneider’s retirement from his 30-year coaching career, announced in April.

“We are very excited to announce Alex Sarrett as the next Basketball Head of Program here at Bellarmine College Preparatory,” said Kevin Saldivar, Bellarmine Director of Athletics. “He has proven himself in his 9 years to be a great leader and teacher of the game and someone who is well respected by his players and those around him. We are confident Coach Sarrett will build upon the tradition of Bellarmine basketball and take the program to new heights.”

Sarrett, who has served as a Bellarmine assistant varsity basketball coach since 2013 and whose coaching experience includes being with the Top Flight Elite AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) Basketball program since 2012, is excited to take on this role. “I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to lead the next chapter of Bellarmine basketball,” said Sarrett. “Being named head coach of this incredible program is a tremendous honor. Thank you to the Bellarmine administration and hiring committee for trusting me to carry on the school’s rich traditions and culture.”

In addition to coaching, Sarrett will continue serving as a full-time Bellarmine staff member.
