The Bellarmine Quiz Bowl Team participated in its first in-person tournament in two years on February 12 when it visited St. Francis High to compete in the third tournament in this year’s California Cup cycle.
The top team, consisting of Richard Lin ’23, Nimai Talur ’22, Devansh Bansal ‘22, and Aditya Indla ‘22, was victorious in the top-tier Competitive Division, going 8-1 over the course of the day, including a close 315-300 victory over Mira Loma and a less-close 370-180 victory over Harker. “Richard was also the #2 individual scorer, with an outstanding average of 72.2 points per game,” noted Mr. Chris Fleitas, Bellarmine faculty member and Quiz Bowl head coach. “The one loss came to Irvington’s A team, which we were happily able to avenge in the final, beating them handily 395-190 to secure the overall win.”
The next Quiz Bowl tournament is expected to occur in March or April.
