A small group of Bells traveled to Nashville, Tennessee this past weekend to compete in the prestigious Montgomery Bell Academy tournament, at which only the top 16 extemporaneous speakers in the entire country are invited to compete in round-robin style. Meanwhile, in policy debate, the top 50 teams in the country face-off across six preliminary rounds, and then the top 16 teams advance to elimination rounds.
Congratulations to the following students on their achievements:
Anuj Kothari ’20 – 3rd place
Adarsh Hiremath ‘21 and Surya Midha ‘21 – Quarterfinalists (top 8)
Brendan Foody ‘21 and Avi Upadhyayula ‘21 – went 3-3 in prelims (earned a bid)
As always, a special thanks to the Speech & Debate staff. Next up is the ASU Tournament taking place this weekend in Arizona.
