Bellarmine fields four cross country teams: freshman, sophomore, junior varsity, and varsity, with a combined total of 180 runners competing in the 2018 campaign.
The 2018 cross country season was an excellent one for the Bells, as they captured their 6th consecutive CCS Division I championship, and their 21st overall. At the State Meet, the Bells finished 7th, posting the second fastest team time in school history. Along the way, the Bells were led by Colin Peattie '21, who posted the school sophomore record on every course he ran during the 2018 season. With an outstanding group of runners in the class of '21 and some very strong members of the classes of '20 and '22, the Bells look once again to field a formidable team in 2019.
Coach Patrick McCrystle has been the head coach of the cross country program since fall 2001. During his tenure, the Bells have won 13 freshman, 11 sophomore, 12 junior varsity, and 10 varsity West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) titles, seven CCS titles, and finished in the top 9 at the DI State finals for nine straight years. Mr. McCrystle teaches in Bellarmine's Social Sciences department.
