Faulkner Seminar

Generic 1

Course Description: Unlike survey courses (American Lit, British Lit) or genre courses (Short Story, Science Fiction), this seminar tackles just one author, William Faulkner, an American, Southern writer of the first half of the 20th century whom most critics call “one of the most difficult and challenging of the last 100 years.”  This course will require reading some 13 short stories, one novella, and two novels, all of which require multiple readings and deep analysis.

Comments: Senior elective. Informed Enrollment. This course will test your patience, persistence, and literary passion. This course is not recommended for the faint of heart; it is not recommended for those who shy away from very difficult literary analysis.
