High School FAQs

Q

If my child does not go to Bellarmine, can they still receive credit for a course?

A

Yes. All high school students that have completed the ninth grade can take courses for credit. At the end of the summer we will send a transcript to your child's school.

Q

What's the difference between an "A" and "B" course?

A

The "A" course is the first semester and the "B" course is the second semester. You may not take both the A and B of any course unless get permission from the Director.

Q

How do I know what time a course will be offered?

A

The schedule is built based on enrollment. Teachers and times of courses are chosen based on enrollment numbers and availability. All final schedules will be sent out via email on June 4.

Q

My child needs to remediate two courses, how do I know that those courses won't conflict with each other?

A

You do not know. Please email us and we will let you know what we have historically done. We still cannot guarantee that the courses will not conflict but we will do our best to let you know as early as possible if there is a chance that there might be a conflict.

Q

How do I know if there is still space left in the course for my child?

A

If the course is on the application, there is still room in the course. We will remove all courses from the application that have reached their enrollment capacity.

Q

What is a hybrid online course?

A

This type of course is offered both in the classroom and online. A schedule of class meetings and a syllabus will be sent to the students in these classes prior to the first day of regular summer school classes.

Q

My son is an incoming freshman to Bellarmine, which courses would you recommend?

A

Your son has lots of option from which to choose. The majority of our courses are taught by Bellarmine faculty members which will give your son a great feeling for the experience he will have in the fall. If he is thinking of taking Latin, Mandarin or Spanish, we have designed introductory courses that will give him a preview of skill-sets needed for those languages.
