Pre-Algebra Prep

Students will study whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. They will also use ratios to compare data sets, make conversions within a given measurement system, make geometric constructions, classify three-dimensional figures, and solve linear equations in one variable. This course is for those students who want to strengthen their skills in preparation for pre-algebra.

Pre-Algebra

Pre-Algebra is a challenging course designed to prepare students for 1st year Algebra. The following areas are covered in this course: integers, rational numbers, directed numbers, geometric figures, area of polygons and circles, surface area, solving equations, solving word problems, real numbers, graphing linear equations and inequalities, square roots.

Algebra 1

This course is designed to cover topics presented in a first year Algebra course. It covers the fundamentals such as binary operations with real numbers, variables, factoring, radicals and exponents. Students are expected to have mastered middle school math, including Pre-Algebra. *This course does not cover a full year of Algebra topics. It is for enrichment only.

Geometry

This is a class where students develop logical reasoning skills and creative problem solving skills while discovering the fundamental concepts of Euclidean Geometry. Topics include space geometry, inductive and deductive reasoning, constructions, properties of triangles and congruent triangles. *This course does not cover a full year of Geometry topics. It is for enrichment only.

This course is designed to prepare students for college-level mathematics by further developing their mathematical vocabulary and problem solving skills in the context of realistic applications.
