Speech & Debate History
Bellarmine’s Speech and Debate team has met with an incredible amount of success during its long history at Bellarmine. Under the Guidance of Jim Harville ’63 from 1967-2000, the Speech and Debate team captured 13 State Championships, and won the National Championship in 1994, the last time a National Champion was recognized.
Under the guidance of Kim Jones from 2001 to the present, the Bells have continued to excel on the State and National level, capturing three of the past four state championships. A Bellarmine team also captured the National Championship in Policy Debate in 2006, a first for Bellarmine.
