Robotics

Team 254, also known as The Cheesy Poofs, is one of the top robotics teams in the country. At the worldwide FIRST Robotics Competition the team earned the Chairman's Award, which is the highest award in FIRST competition, and consistently places in the final eight alliances at the FIRST Championships.

Students, along with knowledgeable mentors, work at the NASA Ames Research Center to design, build, and field a competitive robot in order to play in a task-filled game against robots from all over the nation. After a six week deadline, the robot is shipped to the competition site, where it, and the Bellarmine Robotics Team, compete against other schools to determine whose creation reigns supreme!

Students who want to get involved in this extracurricular activity should contact Mr. Janke at . The co-curricular competition season starts in early January and lasts for the second semester, but our students will work throughout the year, including summers, to hone their robotics skills. Some students opt to take a Robotics class to work on various aspects of the program throughout the school year.

Students will work hands-on in a machine shop, with electronics, with robot construction, and with programming. We also need writers and artists to help out on our publications, and animations, including newsletters and pictures.
