New Parent Information

Welcome to Bellarmine!  On this page, we hope to provide you with the information that you'll need to make your transition into Bellarmine as smooth as possible.

Dates to Remember

Please check the calendar to the right for important dates coming up. And don't forget the most important dates - August 20 and 21, your son's Freshman Orientation. If you have a question about Freshman Orientation, please contact Kathy Shanley, Director of the Freshman Experience.

Academic Information

Please check the calendar to the right regarding any challenge tests for which your son may have registered. If your son has a conflict with a challenge exam date, please email Terry Council. You will be notified via email of the results of his challenge tests around June 1.  Your son's full class schedule will be mailed to you in mid-July.  Along with that mailing, you'll also receive information relative to puchasing books. If your son needs to make a change to his schedule, there will be several days in August when he may do so, or he may do so in person once school begins.

Summer School

Bellarmine summer school runs from June 16-July 23.  It is co-ed, grades 5 -12 and offers a variety of academic and enrichment courses, as well as athletic camps.  There is also an introduction to sports camp for younger kids (aged 6-10).  Many find that summer school provides an excellent way to transition into Bellarmine, especially if your son doesn't know many students from his school coming to Bellarmine, or if he is nervous about a particular subject and wants to get a head start in that area.  Please peruse the Summer School Website for further information. Students entering the 9th grade in the fall of 2009 may not receive high school credit for courses taken during the summer.

Bellarmine Gear

If any members of your family are hoping to find the latest in Bellarmine fashion, you should visit our Campus Store Online.  You also are welcome to stop by the Campus Store in person any day from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Other Information

You will receive a mailing in July that is filled with a great deal of information. Please look for it, and take the time to read the information when you receive it.

Bellarmine Schedule

Bellarmine's daily schedule can be confusing for those new to the school.  There are seven class periods, no more than six of which meet on any given day. What this means is that most classes meet at different times on different days - and each class only meets four times per week. The school day is 8:15 - 2:40 Monday through Thursday, with dismissal on Fridays occurring at either 12:25 or 12:35.  When a Friday dismissal time differs from the norm, that exception is printed on the school calendar (which is part of your July mailing.)  The good news is that students adapt to the schedule quickly, and the starting and ending points are predictable for parents. If you'd like to see the details of what the schedule looks like, please click here.  Which class periods meet on which day also appears on the printed calendar, and on the Daily Planner that we give each freshman at orientation. For information about how and when students are able to change classes, please consult the Add/Drop Policy.
