Library Policies

The Mathewson Library is a welcoming place where students, faculty, and administrators come to read books and magazines, use 48 networked computers, and work on homework. All school policies outlined in the Student Handbook, such as policies on computer usage, harassment, personal appearance and policies on the use of electronic devices including cell phones are enforced in the Library. The environment in the library is calm and the noise level is kept to a minimum. Playing games such as cards, computer games, or games on hand held devices is not permitted in the library.

Students are permitted to check out five items at a time. Regular materials may be checked out for ten school days, while reference and reserve items may be checked out overnight. One copy of each textbook is available for checkout for up to three days. Textbooks are loaned to students who have left their books at home, have lost their books and need a few days to find or replace them and to students who want to examine a textbook before registering for a class. Library copies of textbooks are not meant to alleviate the requirement that each student have a copy of required textbooks.

Overdue fines accrue at the rate of $.25 per day for regular materials, $.50 per day for reference and reserve materials, and $1.00 per day for textbooks.
