Events & Registration

The Dads' Club looks forward to the following events each year:

Annual Fall BBQ (September)

Welcome BBQ 02-02

Welcome the new academic year at a social hour, BBQ dinner, and program that includes informative and humorous presentations by Bellarmine student leaders! This event is a great way to meet new and returning parents, Jesuits, faculty, and staff.

The Campus Store will be open, selling a variety of Bellarmine logo ware. Finally, there will be volunteer signup sheets for dads interested in helping out with the various Dads’ Club events.

What should you wear? Casual clothes or come in work clothes. It doesn't matter. It is a fun BBQ!

Father-Son Workday (October)

The annual Father/Son Work Day is scheduled the Saturday before Bellarmine's Open House, to help Bellarmine get everything neat and tidy for the prospective students and their parents who will be touring the campus the next day. Father and son(s) teams volunteer to help do light clean-up chores around the Bellarmine campus. In the past we have raked leaves and spread ground cover.

The work day starts at 7:30 AM with a mass in the Leontyne Chapel celebrated by Father Sheridan, followed by a light continental breakfast, before heading out to the job. The day ends around 11:30 AM with a BBQ lunch provided by Bellarmine.

Each year, around 30 father/son teams volunteer and have a fun and productive day cleaning up around the school and enjoying the camaraderie of their fellow workers.

Duds for Suds (November)

Suds for Duds Bell Mug

.

Attention all Dads, Dads of Grads and Alumni
- Come join us in November for the Third Annual Dads’ Club Suds for Duds event.

Attention all Moms and Wives - Kindly make dad aware of this event and ask him to save the date. Better yet, register him online for this fun and worthwhile dads’ night out. We aim to replicate last year’s huge success in conjunction with this year’s Winter Warmth Drive.

The Suds for Duds event is a great way to get to know other Bellarmine dads and alumni. Enjoy an evening of beer tasting while supporting Bellarmine’s annual Winter Warmth Drive. Clean out your closets and drawers of gently used warm clothing and bring it to Suds for Duds. In addition to coats and sweaters for men, women and children, we are looking for blankets and sleeping bags. And, if you don't have any gently used clothes, we're collecting new socks and long underwear sets. Bellarmine's donated items go to the Sacred Heart Community Service Center and EHCLifebuilders emergency shelters for women and children.

The evening promises to be a fun-filled night out with beer tastings from a variety of local microbreweries while enjoying sausage sandwiches with all the fixings. All who participate will receive an original Suds for Duds commemorative beer glass -- and at the same time support this worthy cause. What a great way to get to know and network with other Bellarmine dads in a relaxed, informal and fun-filled setting!

Kindly Note: This event is not for students or younger family members.

Father-Son Christmas Mass (December)

A tradition that is being celebrated with Fr. Sheridan, the Dads' Club cordially invites all fathers and sons to honor the "Men for Others" Bellarmine brotherhood by celebrating the Eucharist together in Leontyne Chapel. The Mass will be followed by a Christmas breakfast served by the Mother's Guild in Liccardo Center. All fathers (or other male family figures) and sons are welcome.

Also, at this time of giving, if you can do so, we ask each family (rather than person) to bring one unwrapped gift of no more than $15 in value, appropriate for a child from infant to 15 years-old. All donations will be given directly to organizations in need. Examples of gifts include a Target gift card, a gently used or new coat, or a small backpack with a stuffed animal.

Dads' Retreat (January)

Our yearly retreat renews the tradition of Bellarmine dads coming together for discussion and reflection. Enjoy a day away on this retreat, designed exclusively for dads. This is a great chance to slow down and get in touch with your faith.

Fees includes dinner for dad and son(s) and one Bell Wars t-shirt per son. Additional t-shirts are available for sale.

All Bellarmine dads (or other male role models) and sons are welcome, but sons, please join us even if dad can’t make it! (If the entry fee is a hardship, we can offer assistance--please let us know!)

This is a highlight of each year--guaranteed to be a fun night for everyone!

K-Bell Track Meet (March)

Bellarmine is the proud host of the Annual K-Bell Track & Field Invitational!

This is the largest one-day high school track & field event west of the Mississippi—over 2,500 athletes participated last year.

Volunteers are needed to check the athletes into their events, record their times and otherwise help run the event. Any help offered is greatly appreciated. It is an enjoyable day for parents, friends, and students alike.

Father-Son Golf Tournament (March)

The Father-Son Golf Tournament is a yearly event, followed by a BBQ lunch.

Tijuana Immersion Trip (April)

The Bellarmine Tijuana Immersion Trip takes place over the Easter break. Approximately 60 members of the Bellarmine community travel to Tijuana to build houses under the direction of Amor Ministries, an organization that has been in Mexico for 30 years, providing homes for people that need them the most.

Junior and Senior students, members of the Dads' Club and faculty travel into Tijuana to literally build a foundation for the future for four to five families living in Tijuana. Students work in groups of about 12 on 4-5 houses. The houses are built from the ground up, starting with pouring the foundation to putting stucco on the walls and shingles on the roofs. During the construction of each house, family members may work side by side with the students. In the evening, reflections and discussions occur. Easter Mass is especially meaningful when celebrated in this context, rich with the spirit of community.
