Office Resources

Resources for College Admission Counseling are many and varied. The formal educational component commences with an eight day course in January of the junior year. The assigned Counselor meets with the individual, and often with his parents, numerous times to explore options in the journey to determine the best fit. Availability is the hallmark of the Department and the four College Counselors schedule appointments before school, during lunch and free period and after school. The staff is also schedules meetings throughout the month of June.

In addition to individual sessions, during UC/CSU application and essay writing workshops, the Counselors review the personal statements of applicants. College Information Programs are scheduled for Sophomore, Junior and Senior Parents. The web based Naviance program assists students with self assessment, research on colleges and majors and as a tracking device to monitor the application process. Relevant deadlines, testing procedures, and lists of colleges representatives are regularly posted on the College Guidance website, Naviance, Parent Connect and in the Daily Bulletin in order to assist.

In an effort to represent Bellarmine and the student community to College Admission Personnel and to remain updated on current trends in the field, BCP counselors maintain membership in national and regional organizations, the College Board, and serve on Advisory Boards. Additionally, throughout the year, the College Counselors visit campuses, and attend national and regional meetings.
