About Us

The Garden Group meets regularly and offers a variety of activites from holiday wreath making to garden tours to artistic floral design. We try to engage members in hands-on activities and lectures ranging in topics such as garden landscaping, tips and tricks and flower arranging.

Current Activities

 April 20, 2010 - Bouquets to Art - deYoung Museum, San Francisco

Tickets went on sale (online or by phone) beginning Tuesday, February 16, 10am.

$20 general admission (does not include lecture demonstrations)

$40 general includes lecture admission at 1:30pm by Ruth Loiseau at the Koret Auditorium.

To purchase tickets and for more information, click here. The exhibit runs from Tuesday through Saturday should you be unable to join us on Tuesday.

Ruth Loiseau is a master floral designer. Her company, Ruth L. specializes in providing unique, outstanding, and high-quality floral pieces. She is an accomplished lecturer in the art of floral design. Lectures do sell out.

We will leave by carpool at 9am and return by 5pm (museum hours 9:30 - 5:15)

 Past Activities

November 13, 2009 - Holiday Bulb Planting Class, at Ann Rogerson's home. Betsy Kehoe taught us the different ways to plant an amaryllis. We each planted an amaryllis and a companion plant. Click here for instructions.

October 23, 2009 -  Flower Cake Making Class at Vicki Pope's home. Vicki taught us how to make a floral "cake" that looks good enough to eat. Those that made a "cake" came up with beautiful ones, all different. A few people observed the class too. Click here for instructions.

.September 24, 2009 - Container Garden Class taught by Betsy Kehoe. Betsy taught us her secrets for a beautiful container garden. She also showed us how to set up a drip system for a winter vegetable container garden. 

March 17, 2009 - Bouquet to Arts – a tour led by our own Betsy Kehoe with lunch and lecture by Mark Held,(marksflowers.com) extraordinary floral designer.  Several lucky group members even won floral arrangements!    DeYoung Museum, San Francisco

Need to Know - FAQ

Q. Are there fees to join this group?

   A. No, however, there are fees associated with some of the activities that we attend

Q.  If I don't attend the group activities will I be dropped from the membership?

    A.  Absolutely not!  As long as you are current, paid AMEN member, you are welcome to come to any group activity.

Q.  What if I don't know the first thing about gardening?

   A  That's fine ... it's a learning experience for all of us and you are welcome.
