Academic Support Services

Academic Resource Center (ARC)

The Academic Resource Center provides resources and support services for the entire Bellarmine community. The center is designed for both individual studying and small group collaboration. Small group and individual support for students related to topics such as learning styles and study strategies is provided by ARC staff. In addition, drop-in tutoring assistance is available for subject review and reinforcement by ARC staff and volunteer adult tutors. Students may utilize the center’s PC and Apple computers and printer for completion of homework, research and projects.

In conjunction with the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) coordinator, the ARC supports testing accommodations for students with identified learning disabilities.

The ARC is located on the second floor of the Lokey Academic Center.

ARC Hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:45 am - 4:00 pm, and Friday, 7:45 am - 2:00 pm.

Tutoring Resources

Students may need additional help with their coursework from time to time. There are several tutoring options for students to explore:

  • Meet with teachers outside of class during office hours for re-teaching and review. This should be scheduled frequently (once or twice weekly) on an ongoing basis if the student is struggling in a course.
  • Drop-in homework assistance and tutoring is available in the Academic Resource Center throughout the day.
  • For students who would benefit from regular 1:1 tutoring, a private tutoring referral list can be obtained from their personal counselor or ARC Specialist, Diane Fellenz

Services for Students with Disabilities

Students who qualify for Services for the Students with Disabilities program (SSD) can work through the ARC to arrange and receive appropriate accommodations.  More information on the SSD program can be found in the following brochure: Parent Handbook for SSD Services 2018-2019.

Students are encouraged to explore assistive technology to support learning. A variety of software and hardware options are supported at Bellarmine to maximize academic performance.
