Jackson Thoreson '14 has been named to the 2018 Johnny Bench Award Watch List, an award given each season to the country's best NCAA Division I catcher by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission.

As the catcher for Saint Mary's College, Jackson is one of 97 players nominated for the award - which is an honor in itself. Jackson has been the Gaels' starting catcher for most of the past two seasons while also playing a huge part in the middle of the batting lineup.

The watch list will be narrowed down to the semifinalists announced on May 16. The winner will be honored on June 28, 2018 after the final vote occurs during the College World Series.
