A letter from Bellarmine president, Chris Meyercord -
After a nationwide search and a very comprehensive process, I am very pleased to announce that Kristina Luscher has accepted the offer to become Bellarmine’s next Principal. I am grateful for the very strong work that Kristina has accomplished as the Interim Principal since June 2015, and enthusiastic about the way in which she will lead the school now that the interim title has been removed. She assumes the position effective immediately.
As you are most likely already aware, Kristina brings a wealth of experience to the position. Having worked at two schools prior to joining Bellarmine’s faculty in 2000, Kristina has been an English and dance instructor, and served as the English Department Chair, Academic Assistant Principal, and Interim Principal for the past two years. She has helped lead immersion trips, retreats, and choreographed our musicals, and currently teaches senior English. Beyond her resume, what has always characterized Kristina’s work is her great love for and deep commitment to Jesuit education. This is perhaps most apparent in her sincere and very deep care for students. Everything that she does is imbued with this sense of cura personalis, considering how she and we as a school can best care for each individual student.
I am deeply grateful to the nearly 100 people who participated in the interview process. I am particularly thankful to those who served on the Principal Search Committee. This Committee worked very hard and very well by helping to determine the school’s particular needs at this time, vetting the applicants for the position, interviewing the semi-finalists, and greatly aiding in the discernment process that led to this final decision. Their work has been of invaluable service to the school, and helped to ensure the result of our having the most qualified person for the position. Thank you, members of the committee, and congratulations Kristina!
