VEX Teams Compete in Google Starstruck Tournament

Posted: January 24, 2017

Five VEX, i.e., small robot, teams competed in the Google Starstruck Tournament on January 22. The competition was held at Google in Mountain View, and included 36 teams from across northern California.

All five teams made the elimination rounds, with four teams finishing in the top twelve.

Team 254A - Manu Kumar and Andy Herbert - received the Excellence Award, which qualifies them for the state tournament next month. The Excellence Award is given to the top all-around team (not necessarily the first place finisher in the tournament), and is the highest award presented in a VEX competition. Key criteria in its determination include rankings within design, tournament qualification matches, robot skills and VEX program.

Bellarmine Teams:

Team 254 A Andy Herbert and Manu Kumar
Team 254 C Tony Lee
Team 254 D Arturo Gamboa-Gonzalez
Team 254 E Jacob Boerma
Team 254 F Varun Gnanasekaran and Jake Greenlee
