Golfers Take 1st at The Palmetto

Varsity golfers took first place at The Palmetto in Myrtle Beach, SC. The team of Eddy Lai, Boots Del Biaggio, Berk Harvvey, Austin Murphy and Jensen Li scored a 552, 16 under par, to secure the championship title over Waccamaw High School, which came in at +6, 574.

Bellarmine sent two teams to the 2016 Palmetto which was held March 24-26 at True Blue Golf Plantation and Caledonia Golf and Fish Club. The 31 participating teams were flighted based upon an 18-hole qualifier round, with both Bellarmine teams qualifying for the Championship Flight.

Eddy Lai was the low individual for the tournament, with Boots Del Biaggio coming in 2nd, one stroke behind. Boots also set a course record at Caledonia – shooting a -6 from the Mallard tees.

Bellarmine's second team finished the tournament with a 15th place showing, +79, 647.

Our golf team also took 1st place at the Pahrump Invitational in Nevada (March 10-11) and 2nd place at the Champions Invitational in Indio, CA (March 31-April 2).

    Robotics Team 254, The Cheesy Poofs, earned their fourth world championship title at the annual FIRST Championship held April 18-21 in Houston, Texas. With titles in 2011, 2014, 2017 and now 2018, their performance not only ties the world record for most championship titles, but caps the team’s undefeated season with a record of 53-0-0, making them the only team in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) history to win every single match in a season.

    We recognized four distinguished alumni the evening of April 7 at our annual Bellarmine Hall of Fame induction ceremony.Those honored, and their respective categories, were: Luis Nicolao, Class of 1988 (Athletics); Rich Casey, Class of 1964 (Business/Science & Medicine); Larry Lauro, Class of 1966 (Humanities & Fine Arts); and Ming Chin, Class of 1960 (Public Service).
