Golden Bell Auction Brings Community Together for a Good Cause

Posted: March 12, 2018

We held our 42nd Golden Bell Auction on Saturday, March 10. More than 650 guests attended this year’s French-themed event, “La Vie Est Bell.”

The on-campus gala began with an optional Mass held in the Leontyne Chapel, celebrated by Fr. Mario Prietto, S.J., superior of the Bellarmine Jesuit community. The reception, featuring hors d’ oeuvres provided by A Catered Affair, cocktails, and silent auction items, was followed by the program and fine dining entrees prepared by the Bellarmine culinary staff, led by executive chef Jeremy Soulia.

Mark Alman, a professional auctioneer and parent of a Bellarmine alumnus, led the live auction, featuring many unique items, including a concert and “meet and greet” with country music superstar Keith Urban, 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara from the Normandin dealership, a great white shark dive experience near Guadalupe Island, Mexico, and a variety of dining and entertainment experiences.

A highlight of the evening was the address delivered by the three Nazari brothers – senior Michael, sophomore Matthew, and alumnus Ryan – who shared their experiences and conveyed their gratitude for everything that goes into making a Bellarmine education possible for so many deserving young men. Ryan, a 2017 Bellarmine graduate, is currently continuing his Jesuit education at Santa Clara University.

Proceeds from the annual Golden Bell Auction benefit our Direct Financial Aid Fund. With nearly 25 percent of Bellarmine’s 1,650 students receiving tuition assistance, the school’s financial aid budget is $4.4 million.
