Bellarmine Hosts VEX Robotics Tournament

Posted: November 21, 2017

Bellarmine College Prep hosted 60 school robotics teams that competed during the weekend of November 17-18.

Presented by Team 254: The Cheesy Poofs, the 10th Annual Bellarmine Bay Area VEX Robotics Tournament saw five of the 60 teams obtain bids to move on to the State Championship tournament, taking place in early March. After nearly 120 matches, the winning alliance of Team 315J and 315G from Paradigm Robotics and Team 5327A: Gael Force Robotics from Dublin High School claimed the title in an intense tiebreaker match. Also advancing are the winners of the Excellence Awards: Team 5327C from Dublin High School for the high school division and Team 94065J: Black Jaguar Robotics from Redwood City for the middle school division.

Team 254 from Bellarmine participates in the VEX Robotics Competition (VEX) as well as the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). As a three-time world champion (2011, 2014, 2017), the most decorated team in FIRST, and a member of both the VEX and FRC Hall of Fames, Team 254’s goal is to inspire other robotics teams and our community through STEM outreach in the spirit of FIRST’s Gracious Professionalism.

This tournament is one of the many ways Team 254 embodies the values of STEM and exemplifies Bellarmine’s motto, “Men for and Others.”
