XC Secures 5th Consecutive CCS D1 Championship

Posted: November 16, 2017

The Bells secured their fifth consecutive Division 1 Central Coast Section (CCS) championship on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Toro Park in Salinas. Senior Meika Beaudoin-Rousseau was the individual champion, for a second year in a row, with a time of 15:22.6.

Alex Scales '18 (15:56.3) and Ross D'Orfani '19 (16:08.0) also finished in the top ten for the Bells, contributing 4th and 8th place finishes respectively.

The team's performance at the race was a fitting tribute to Coach Patrick McCrystle, who was recognized as this season's recipient of the CCS Honor Coach award for cross country. The award, given to one coach per sport per season, is in recognition of the coach's contributions to the sport at their school, within their league, in the community and to the CCS. Among other things, it honors their professional standards of conduct, general service to the sport, outstanding coaching accomplishments, and contribution as a role model and inspiration to student-athletes.
