BCP Receives Recognition at Natl Speech/Debate Tournament

Bellarmine was honored as a School of Outstanding Distinction at the National Speech and Debate Tournament, held in Birmingham, AL, last week. The award recognizes the top ten schools who have competed in both the speech and debate divisions of the tournament.

Thirteen Bells qualified to compete in the National Tournament, and the performances of each played significantly into receiving top honors at the tournament: Peter Boennighausen '17, Bryant Cong '17, Bobby Houston '18, Joshua Joseph '18, Anuj Kothari '20, Xavier Liu '17, Ronan MacRunnels '19, Thomas Nedungadan '19, Pranaya Pahwa '17, William Pramono '17, Gaurav Rane '19, Devansh Taori '18 and Rishab Yeddula '19

Congratulations to our team of students and their coaches, Dee Dee Sullivan, Aaron Langerman, Matt DeLateur and Kim Jones. Special thanks are also extended to Mrs. Jones who retired at the end of the 2016-2017 school year. The joy and dedication which she brought to Bellarmine and our speech and debate will most certainly be missed.

  • Team 254 Victorious at World Championships

    Robotics Team 254, The Cheesy Poofs, earned their fourth world championship title at the annual FIRST Championship held April 18-21 in Houston, Texas. With titles in 2011, 2014, 2017 and now 2018, their performance not only ties the world record for most championship titles, but caps the team’s undefeated season with a record of 53-0-0, making them the only team in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) history to win every single match in a season.

  • Robotics Team Wins Silicon Valley Regional Competition

    Team 254, “The Cheesy Poofs,” claimed victory in the FIRST Silicon Valley Regional Tournament, held March 28 - 31 at the San Jose State University Event Center. The win marks the 11th consecutive victory at this event for Team 254, who joined with alliance partners Team 973, The Greybots from Atascadero, and Team 2367, Lancer Robotics from Mountain View. Bellarmine’s Team 254 has won the Silicon Valley Regional 19 of 20 times since 1999.
