Bells Recognized as National Merit Scholarship Program Finalists

Sixteen seniors were named as National Merit Scholarship Program finalists, and as such, are now under consideration to receive scholarships through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

In order to qualify as finalists, students worked with their counselors to submit a detailed scholarship application which included their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities and honors and awards received.

Finalists are eligible for three types of scholarships - National Merit Scholarships, which are awarded on a state-representational basis, Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards and College-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards. These awards will be announced beginning in April and concluding in July.

    Nineteen Bells were announced as semifinalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship (NMS) Program. Less than one percent of US high school seniors are awarded this status, which is based upon the student's performance in the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

    Pravin Ravishanker '17 was recently named a 2017 US Presidential Scholar by the US Department of Education and the Commission on Presidential Scholars. He is one of 161 students from across the country to receive the award.
