Become a Bell

Whether you are a 6th grader just wanting to attend Open House, or an 8th grader ready to apply, everything you need to know about the process of becoming a Bell is on this page.

Bellarmine uses Ravenna Solutions for our admissions process. By setting up a Ravenna account, you'll be able to sign up for a Shadow Day, apply and get information and updates from us regarding admissions and other events on campus.

Our Ravenna site will open in mid-September. Please check back here at that time for access.

High School Info Nights

The San Jose Diocese coordinates a series of High School Information Nights for junior high (7th and 8th grade) students and their parents each fall. These events offer attendees the opportunity to become better acquainted with participating high schools and their admissions processes.

The info nights are scheduled at six different locations around the Diocese, and are formatted to allow students/parents to attend up to three 25-minute sessions per evening.

Bellarmine sends its Admissions team, along with current Bellarmine students, to these evenings so that parents and students can get a feel for what Bellarmine has to offer and determine if it might be the right school for your family.

Registration is not required.

Shadow a Bell

Bellarmine’s Shadow Program is a terrific way for 8th grade students to get an inside and accurate look of what it is really like to be a Bellarmine student. Shadowing is not a mandatory part of the application process, but it is a great opportunity to spend some time on our campus in the company of a Bellarmine student.

Current Bellarmine students guide their 8th grade shadows throughout the morning. Admissions representatives are available to answer any questions, and the program concludes just before lunch. Students tell us year after year that this was the best way for them to get to know Bellarmine.

Our Shadow Day Program runs from late September through early December. Registration will open in the Fall. Please check back here mid-September for more details.

Come to Open House

All prospective students, along with their families, are invited to attend our annual Open House on Sunday, October 29, 2017. During Open House, you can:

    • Take a tour
    • Explore the campus on your own
    • Chat with current students
    • Meet our faculty and staff
    • Check out our athletic and co-curricular programs
    • Learn about the application process

Check back here in mid-September for more details regarding Open House.

The application process for incoming freshmen is completed through  Ravenna.

We will begin the application process for the Class of 2022 next Fall. Please check back here in mid-September for details.

NOTE: Please notify us if you need assistance with Bellarmine Admissions material in a language other than English.

Taking the HSPT

The HSPT, created by Scholastic Testing Service (STS), is a comprehensive placement test for eighth graders which high schools, including Bellarmine, use to assist with their ninth grade admission process.

Students can take the HSPT entrance exam at Bellarmine or at any of the other San Jose diocesan high schools. Applicants may also take the test in a diocese other than San Jose, e.g., Oakland or San Francisco. The exam may only be taken once and you must register in advance.

If you would like to take the exam at Bellarmine, you will find the registration form within the online application.

As an alternative to costly HSPT preparation classes, Bellarmine faculty developed a free, online test prep course which students can take at their own pace. More information can be found at
