Become a Bell

Whether you are a 6th grader just wanting to attend Open House, or an 8th grader ready to apply, everything you need to know about the process of becoming a Bell is on this page.

Bellarmine uses Ravenna Solutions for our admissions process.

Opening a Ravenna account is your first step in exploring what Bellarmine has to offer.

By setting up a Ravenna account, you can sign up for a Shadow Day, apply and get information and updates from us regarding admissions and other events on campus.

High School Info Nights

The San Jose Diocese coordinates a series of High School Information Nights for junior high (7th and 8th grade) students and their parents each fall. These events offer attendees the opportunity to become better acquainted with participating high schools and their admissions processes.

The info nights are scheduled at six different locations around the Diocese, and are formatted to allow students/parents to attend up to three 25-minute sessions per evening.

Bellarmine sends its Admissions team, along with current Bellarmine students, to these evenings so that parents and students can get a feel for what Bellarmine has to offer and determine if it might be the right school for your family.

Registration is not required.

Info nights for the 2016-2017 admissions season have concluded. The 2017 schedule will be published next August.

Participating Schools:

Archbishop Mitty High School, San Jose
Bellarmine College Prep, San Jose
Notre Dame High School, San Jose
Presentation High School, San Jose
Saint Francis High School, Mountain View

Shadow a Bell

Bellarmine’s Shadow Program is a terrific way for 8th grade students to get an inside and accurate look of what it is really like to be a Bellarmine student. Shadowing is not a mandatory part of the application process, but it is a great opportunity to spend some time on our campus in the company of a Bellarmine student.

Our Shadow Day Program runs from late September through early December.

Shadow Day registration is completed in Ravenna. Once in the Bellarmine dashboard of your Ravenna account, click on "Sign Up for a Shadow Visit." Complete the "Shadow Visit Form" and "Register for an event" (i.e., select your desired shadow day).

If you experience technical difficulties along the way, contact Ravenna:

Detailed Shadow Day instructions for parents and students are available on the Shadow Program webpage.

Come to Open House

All prospective students, along with their families, are invited to attend our annual Open House on Sunday, November 6th. During Open House, you can:

    • Take a tour
    • Explore the campus on your own
    • Chat with current students
    • Meet our faculty and staff
    • Check out our athletic and co-curricular programs
    • Learn about the application process

Feel free to stop by any time between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. Registration is not required. Tours will begin at 10:00 am, with the final tour at 12:50 pm. Students will direct you to Liccardo Center, where tours will begin.

Parking restrictions will be lifted on the 6th, so you may park on surrounding neighborhood streets. However, we ask that you please be mindful of our neighbors and ensure that you do not block their driveways.

A map and directions are included on our Open House webpage if needed.

We look forward to seeing you in November. Go Bells!

Taking the HSPT

The HSPT, created by Scholastic Testing Service (STS), is a comprehensive placement test for eighth graders which high schools, including Bellarmine, use to assist with their ninth grade admission process.

Students can take the HSPT entrance exam at Bellarmine or at any of the other San Jose diocesan high schools. Applicants may also take the test in a diocese other than San Jose, e.g., Oakland or San Francisco. The exam may only be taken once and you must register in advance.

If you would like to take the exam at Bellarmine, you will find the registration form within the online application.

As an alternative to costly HSPT preparation classes, Bellarmine faculty developed a free, online test prep course which students can take at their own pace. More information can be found at
