Overview
Academics
Bellarmine’s campus has the feel of a small college with 17 buildings spread over 19 acres. The Schott Academic Center, the largest academic portion of the campus, houses some of the older buildings on campus including classrooms, a theatre, student services, and student activities. The Carney Science Center, equipped with the latest technology available in the sciences, provides 14 classrooms and lab environments in which students pursue their interest in the sciences. Liccardo Center houses the Mathewson Media Center, which was completely remodeled and updated in the summer of 2006, as well as student and faculty dining services. The Leontyne Chapel is at the center of campus, and overlooks the beautifully landscaped Lucas Campus Quad—a popular gathering place for students during the day. Many English, Foreign Language, and Computer Science courses are located in O’Donnell Hall, while Mathewson Hall houses Mathematics, as well as administrative offices. Fr. Jerry Wade, S.J. Hall is home for the 14 Jesuit priests who live on Bellarmine’s campus and work in the school community.
Athletics
In addition, Bellarmine’s campus includes the Fatjo Baseball Field, the Malloy Aquatics Center, the Wayne Valley Gymnasium, a soccer/lacrosse field and the Ghiorso Football Field that was just outfitted with a Field Turf all-weather surface in the summer of 2007.
Future Plans
As Bellarmine looks to the future, plans are underway to build a new Humanities Center, which will house a theatre, fine arts and music classrooms, and other classroom facilities. This new building will be a major enhancement to Bellarmine’s campus, and will lead the way for future changes as well.
